$450,000 in prizing available to develop the next great dairy snack

The California Milk Advisory Board (CMAB) is launching one of the biggest dairy snack competitions, the Real California Milk Snackcelerator, with over $450,000 worth of prizing to be awarded to innovative dairy-based snacking applicants.
The second CMAB innovation competition combines two of California’s great natural resources: Real California Milk and California Entrepreneurship. The competition aims to inspire innovation and investment in dairy products, packaging and capacity within California.
CMAB is seeking high-growth potential dairy applicants, with cow’s milk dairy making up at least 50% of their formula. The applicants will need to commit to producing the product in California, should they win the competition, thus making an economic impact on the dairy farmers of California, as well as the dairy processing community.
Up to eight (8) applicants will receive $10,000 worth of support each, to develop an edible prototype product, while receiving group resources including graphic design, lab or kitchen time and elite mentorship from marketing, packaging, and distribution experts (valued at $120,000). They will also receive an expense-paid (travel, lodging and meals) business development trip, to tour dairy farms and processing facilities, to meet with industry leaders to help drive success of their new venture (valued at $50,000). If necessary, the business development trip and mentorship may be performed virtually, with samples shipped to judges and key constituents. The winner will receive up to $200,000 worth of support to get their new product to market.
Note: Given California’s rich Latin culture and position as the country’s leading producer of Hispanic-style cheese and dairy products – at least one finalist slot will be reserved for the Best Latin-Inspired dairy snack.
